Audio Hijack 3 also has an extensive onboard Help menu that includes the manual, support contact form, and link to the knowledge base. There is also a link to the app's Help Center. Although descriptions and information refer to clicking buttons on the screen, these tasks are accessible with the keyboard. When either the trial or the purchased app loads, two options are presented: "Dive Right In" and "Read the Manual." The manual is accessible using VoiceOver. Although the new program isn't perfect in this regard, it is very good. Rogue Amoeba has consistently designed its Audio Hijack software to have good VoiceOver accessibility. Some podcasters use it for recording their podcasts, although it is not actually an audio editor. It can record from Skype, Safari, a microphone, and other audio sources. Audio Hijack 3 Functionality and AccessibilityĪudio Hijack 3 lets you record audio directly to your Mac, and save the recording as a file. This latest version, Audio Hijack 3, has a very different interface from previous versions. The ability to lock a routing configuration so they can't be accidentally changed would be a huge bonus.Įdit: Price range for this software is probably in the sub $200 range.Recently, Rogue Amoeba released a new version of its Audio Hijack Pro software. I'm wondering if anyone has used similar software for PA management before and if you guys have recommendations? I'm basically looking for a more professional program that can do application-to-application and interface-to-interface routing that's flexible enough to deal with multiple interfaces and mismatched sample rates while also providing AU plugin, delay, and multi-channel splitting support. While the UI is really friendly to work in, the auto-routing system becomes a huge pain to debug for larger networks, and the inability to lock blocks/routes in place once setup can lead to show ending catastrophe if I'm not careful with my mouse. However, as I've started to use Hijack for more complex setups, its shortcomings have become glaringly obvious. It's super flexible and can handle as many different interfaces and software routes as I throw its way. For the most part it works really well and I get a lot of use out of it. I use it a lot when I'm doing small to medium-small DJ or "AudioVisual Art" type events where I can't be arsed to bring hardware PA management gear or don't have the time or space to set up a rack. I've been using Audio Hijack Pro for quite some time now as a simple multi-channel audio routing/delay software with AU plugin support. ![]() r/broadcastengineering - Broadcast Engineering.r/projection_mapping - Projection Mapping. You might find these other subreddits useful: These rules are implemented at the moderators' discretion.
